This 12,000 SF custom residence in three levels features magnificent views of the surrounding mountains with vaulted ceilings and open floor plan. Efficient structural steel framing, manufactured lumber products and extensive rustic stone were employed in its construction.

The complex geometry of the building was accommodated by the use of numerous steel bents on the roof, moment frames and braced frames for shear (in order to maximize the views of Aspen and the mountain), stepped cantilevered beams for the large balconies, structural steel with multiple transfers to support the floors and massive fireplaces, complex cast-in-place concrete for the mechanical bunker and cantilevered parking deck, and micro piles for the support of an infinity edge pool that became a part of the project after the foundation was complete.

Davidson's Duplex

Soil-nailed wall under construction

9,000 SF duplex in three levels located in a challenging site. This design required a 30 ft soil-nailed wall to stabilize the hillside in which it is built. It also required efficient use of concrete retaining walls of the sides and steel rigid gables to accommodate the vaulted ceilings in hip configuration.

McLain Flats Residence

Conventional wood frame and stone veneer spec home construction covering 12,000 sqft in two levels, with high vaulted ceilings and traditional arhitectural elements.  The structural engineering design required the use of steel rigid gables to accommodate the vaulted ceilings.

This residence of 5,000 sf. is maximized to enjoy its river fornt location.  It is constructed of conventional stick framing with some use of structural steel.

Design required minimized impact to the natual surroundings preserving all the downhill side of the lot with mature trees.
