Eagle County Materials Recycling Facility

This is a 140' x 100' pre-manufactured metal building and 955 s.f., cold formed steel framed office and break room. The challenge for this structure was to resist the horizontal forces from the 140' long bent steel moment frames on a site with an 11' tall retaining wall on one end and an 4' grade drop on the other. The lateral loads were resisted with grade beams in the slab. The slab was also designed with the needed 5' deep pits for the recycling work and reinforced to take the weight of the equipment and vehicles that will be operating in the space.

The office and break room were framed with cold formed steel roof joists supported on steel studs and shear walls. This structure had to interface with the pre-manufactured metal building structure.

The site was graded for an additional 80' by 100' building to be added in the future. The foundation was poured in this area with pilasters and anchor bolts for the future building. This required some of the additional 400 lineal feet of site walls to be designed for the future building.
